| 内容記述 | The purpose of this thesis is to show the influence an artifact exerts on people. The author examined a case of costumes and tools used in the Lunar New Year Festival performed in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. This Lunar New YearFestival called "Donto-Sai"is held as a Japanese traditional Shinto event. This festival is often performed in a shrine at night on January 14. Old lucky charms are brought in on the day of a festival and put in one corner of the shrine. Shinto priests then burn these lucky charms. Residents in a new community of Sendai Gity founded this "traditional event about 40 years ago. This case was analyzed by this research. Female junior high school students who live near the festival put on a costume of "Miko (the witch)" and dance. The costume and the belongings used at this time were complex and a new behavior pattern was adopted according to confirmation from performers and observers. As for dancers, their costumes become more gorgeous every year. How to dance also became complicated, and the number of dancers was increased, too. Their costumes were updated in recent years. Resident volunteers in the community are making the tools used at the dance by themselves. The changes in dancers and costumes since involving the audience more, has clearly affected the attitude of appreciation. |
